Grey Path

For this assignment we were told to read "The Yellow Wallpaper" and then take a picture that demonstrated the emotions you felt while reading it. I was very disturbed while reading the story and the main character's life was extremely depressing. Since people often associate grey with depression I took a photo of a grey deck. The lines on the deck show the dark and depressing path the woman was following by living in the yellow room.

Purity

White is often associated with purity which is demonstrated in the photograph because the doorknob is crystal.

Energy

The color red is said to evoke enthusiasm and energy. I think this is portrayed well in this photo because not only is the focal point a bright redish organge, but it also has very energetic movement.

Oscar

This is another photo used for the color psycology project. The white carpeting demonstrates simplicity and that idea is carried over with Oscar. Oscar is a very well liked Sesame Street character who happens to be most people's favorite color. Studies have shown that most people choose blue as their favorite color. This is because it is said to make people feel calm and at peace.

Coca Cola

I used this photo for the color psychology project. I read in an article that people's eyes are easily drawn to the color red and that is why it is commonly used in advertising. I demonstrated that idea in this photograph. The viewer's eye is automatically drawn to the red coke cap.

Golden Ice

My second attractive photo is of small drops of ice on a railing on my deck. I really like how the sun reflects on the ice and give it an almost goldish shimmer. I made the coloring on the ice a little more vibrant by changing the color balance.

Laces

This is one of my attractive photos. I am OBSESSED with my yellow converse so I view this as attractive. The sunlight was also coming from an intresting angle which left intriguing shadows. On the other hand, some people might view this as repulsive because of the stains on my shoes. I slighty altered the coloring by changing the color balance.

Ice Patch

This is my second repulsive picture. It is of a patch of ice on my walkway by my front door. I view this patch of ice as repulsive because I slip on it all the time, but when I look more closely, it can as be seen as something beautiful. I like the way sunlight reflects on the ice and I am also drawn towards the vibrant colors in the stones. I changed the color a little by altering the color balance.

Chipped

This is one of two repulsive pictures; it is a bell that has severely chipped paint. I think that at first glance chipped paint is repulsive because it makes things look unkempt and trashy, but when looked at more closely, chipped paint can make something look vintage which some people think is attractive. I didn't have to do anything to make the color in this picture more vibrant, but I did do a Gaussian blur and then erased cracks in the paint that I wanted to be the focal point.

Down the Road

In this montage I was trying to show how I feel sometime about my future. The future can be frighting and confusing to think about, while other times it is exciting. In the my iris there is a road, representing the path that I see myself following, and to the side of my face there are other paths and direction I could follow.

Childhood

In this image I am trying to portray the simplicity and joys of childhood. I beleive that we all yearn to to spend a day as a childhood sometimes, and that is part of what I have shown in this montage.

I don't like how this turned out at all. It was really hard to cover up the light and shadow on the house.

Space Montage

I chose farmland for my background because I felt it showed a lot of spacial depth. I am also drawn into farmland because it shows natural beauty with hints of human influence. I believe this image would appeal to many viewers because it portrays a peaceful summer day, which is something many people dream about during the long winter months.
