Echo
Echo was a nymph who had a spell put on her because she talked to much. Because of the spell, she was only able to speak when she heard someone else talk and she could only repeat exactly what they said. It is said that you can still hear her voice mimicking you in big caverness places.
To create this photo I set up two mirrors facing eachother so I would get the repeating mirror effect. Then in photoshop, I cropped the pictured and did a blurr soft light. I then sharpened the image to make the reflections pop more.

Apollo-God of Light
Apollo is the god of light or the sun. He is also the patron god of arts and is personified as the "perfect man." Apollo was also supposedly the first to win a gold metal in the olympic games. (I think this is ironic since Apolo Ohno is the most decorated winter olypian)
To make this photograph I set set up a flash light in a completely dark room and took a picture of someone's hand. Then in photoshop I made the picture black and white and did made "sunrays from scratch." (This is explained in my Rays picture)

Rays
To create the effect of sun rays I started by adding a new blank layer on top of the original layer. Then I did a render clouds and then a radial blur with zoom and the amount at 100. I then dragged the center to where I wanted the rays to come from. Then I did another radial blur. Next I added a levels layer and brought the outside levels towards the center. I then blended these layers with an overlay. Next I added another new layer and did a layer mask. I painted the edges with a black paintbrush. Lastly I added another new layer and used a white paint brush to paint where the sun came from.

Kacie
This is my favorite picture from the portrait assignment. It is a close up of Kacie's face and to the left of her face is the frozen lake. The angle of the sun left perfect shadows on her face. To adjust this picture, I just did a blur soft light. Then I made a slight blur again and erased her eyes, mouth, and hair.

Grey Path
For this assignment we were told to read "The Yellow Wallpaper" and then take a picture that demonstrated the emotions you felt while reading it. I was very disturbed while reading the story and the main character's life was extremely depressing. Since people often associate grey with depression I took a photo of a grey deck. The lines on the deck show the dark and depressing path the woman was following by living in the yellow room.

Oscar
This is another photo used for the color psycology project. The white carpeting demonstrates simplicity and that idea is carried over with Oscar. Oscar is a very well liked Sesame Street character who happens to be most people's favorite color. Studies have shown that most people choose blue as their favorite color. This is because it is said to make people feel calm and at peace.

Golden Ice
Laces
This is one of my attractive photos. I am OBSESSED with my yellow converse so I view this as attractive. The sunlight was also coming from an intresting angle which left intriguing shadows. On the other hand, some people might view this as repulsive because of the stains on my shoes. I slighty altered the coloring by changing the color balance.
Ice Patch
This is my second repulsive picture. It is of a patch of ice on my walkway by my front door. I view this patch of ice as repulsive because I slip on it all the time, but when I look more closely, it can as be seen as something beautiful. I like the way sunlight reflects on the ice and I am also drawn towards the vibrant colors in the stones. I changed the color a little by altering the color balance.
Chipped
This is one of two repulsive pictures; it is a bell that has severely chipped paint. I think that at first glance chipped paint is repulsive because it makes things look unkempt and trashy, but when looked at more closely, chipped paint can make something look vintage which some people think is attractive. I didn't have to do anything to make the color in this picture more vibrant, but I did do a Gaussian blur and then erased cracks in the paint that I wanted to be the focal point.

Down the Road
In this montage I was trying to show how I feel sometime about my future. The future can be frighting and confusing to think about, while other times it is exciting. In the my iris there is a road, representing the path that I see myself following, and to the side of my face there are other paths and direction I could follow.

Space Montage
I chose farmland for my background because I felt it showed a lot of spacial depth. I am also drawn into farmland because it shows natural beauty with hints of human influence. I believe this image would appeal to many viewers because it portrays a peaceful summer day, which is something many people dream about during the long winter months.
